INVESTMENT MEMO

The due diligence note
becomes the memo.

The team takes the note written by Casian, rewrites it section by section and exports it to Word or PDF for the committee. The vote and the decision stay in the deal file.

From draft
to committee.

The memo starts from the due diligence, with its sources. The team takes it to the version presented to the committee, then to the decision.

Section-by-section editing
The team edits the memo section by section. A conflict is flagged if two people edit the same section.
The team’s text protected
A section rewritten by an analyst is never overwritten when the analysis updates.
Saved versions
Every version stays available, so you can see what the committee had in front of it.
Word and PDF export
The memo exports to Word or PDF. A short version sits alongside the detailed memo.
One vote per member
Each member votes. By default, Casian’s opinion stays hidden until the vote.
The official decision
An authorized member records it with its rationale, its conditions and, for an investment, its terms. The documents and the memo are frozen at the decision.

A memo that
keeps its sources.

The memo picks up the summary and sections of the due diligence. Every finding keeps its source, and a citation opens the document at the cited page.

Substantive changes are made in the Due diligence tab, and the memo then picks up the updated analysis. Once finalized, the memo becomes read-only.

Our guide to writing a committee memo

The decision belongs to the committee.

Casian writes a recommendation. The committee can follow it, challenge it or ask for more evidence, and everyone discusses the same state of the deal file.
